Brie is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association, meaning her clinical practice adheres to a professional code of conduct and strict ethical guidelines.
As a clinical psychologist Brie has obtained post-graduate university qualifications in Clinical Psychology, this requires 8 years of university and practical training. Brie is also currently completing a Doctoral degree, researching help-seeking and the factors that are involved in why people may or may not seek help for self-harm and psychological difficulties.
Brie has experience in the delivery of both individual and group psychological interventions using a range of therapeutic approaches, with couples, adults and young people.
Brie has a special interest in working with clients who have enduring psychological difficulties, in particular Borderline Personality Disorder and those with complex trauma histories. Brie has training and experience in the delivery of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Schema Therapy. Sheena Takacs is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a member of the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists, meaning her clinical practice adheres to a professional code of conduct and strict ethical guidelines. Sheena is also an Advanced Level Schema Therapist (certified by the International Society for Schema Therapy).
Sheena has had over 10 years of experience working with a wide range of mental health issues. Sheena was awarded a Masters of Clinical Psychology after completing a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) through the University of Wollongong. Sheena adopts a client-centred approach and strives to provide a genuine, supportive, safe and non-judgmental space for people to explore the issues that bring them to therapy.
Sheena specialises in Schema Therapy which is used to treat personality disorders, emotion dysregulation, chronic anxiety or long-term mood disturbance, low self-esteem, interpersonal problems, in addition to a range of other issues. Sheena also uses a variety of evidence based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
Sheena is still located within Turner and Associates Clinical Psychology & Psychotherapy but has started Schema Therapy Wollongong. Sheena is focusing on providing individual schema therapy to clients in the Wollongong area.
